Glossary(1) Gemstones ・Gemstones are precious or semi-precious stones that are mined, cut or polished.
Emerald ・A highly valued gemstone that is a variety of the mineral beryl. It has a certain intensity and saturation of the green color due to traces of chromium and iron.
Mohs ・this is a criterion for identifying the value of gemstones.
Refractive Index ・a criterion used to measure the amount of refraction of a certain gemstone. It is basically the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light in a medium.
Beryl ・A family of stones composed of alumminum and glucinum (beryllium). It is a hard mineral that has a variety of colours. Other examples of stones from beryl family are aquamarine and morganite.
Crystallisation ・a process used for gemstones to turn these stones into crystal form. During the crystallization process for Emeralds, it undergoes great pressure and heat.
